Wine shop
We are known for the First National Wine Bank of Slovenia (1st NWBS), established in 1991. By purchasing the FNWBS certificate you become the owner of six regular or three Magnum bottles of top-quality wine. They will be stored in our wine bank in ideal conditions, and you can collect them at any time within ten years. Certificate holders may also visit our wine bank, which stores for maturing the best vintages of the previous decades. The wine certificate makes for a unique gift to friends or business partners.

Events / Private party
The Kupljen Tavern is well-known for hosting events. Valentine’s Day and Shrovetide are the first events we host early in the year. It is merry in the summer when on August 15 the young men of Prlekija, encouraged by village musicians, put up the klopotec (pronounced [klɔˈpɔːtəts]). The klopotec is a wooden mechanical device on a high wooden pole, similar to a windmill, used to scare birds in vineyards. The one we put up is made using traditional methods. Harvesting is of course always a major holiday here. It is usually held in September and October, and the festivities that start in the vineyards during the days continue in the Tavern come nightfall. On November 11, when it is time for must to turn into wine, our guests can be the very first to taste the initial batch of our young wine. We break into the Christmas and New Year festivities as early as November, when on the first Sunday in Advent a unique Christmas/Wine tree is set up on the patio. The cast iron tree stands more than 2 m tall and has 570 knobs for decorations; by New Year’s Eve, guests will have decorated all 570 knobs with Kupljen wine bottles – emptied, of course. Entry into the New Year is marked with fireworks, and the party will always continue until morning. We recommend you book a table for any of our events, and rooms may also be booked in advance (call us at + 386 (0)2 719 41 28).
Groups may rent the entire Tavern to hold a private event. Guests may enjoy fine dining with exquisite wines in the main restaurant area, up on the veranda, in the Hunters Room and on the patio. The Kupljen Tavern can sit up to 130 guests with no music and up to 70 guests on evenings with music; an additional 50 guests can be served in the summer garden.

Summer garden
The Kupljen Tavern is perched on top of a hill, offering charming views of the surroundings. Our beautiful patio – which the media portal Siol ranked a top 10 in Slovenia in 2016 – will accommodate you on warm summer evenings and, in other seasons, on all days with fine weather. It can be enjoyed at least six months a year, often during sunny winter days as well. When the skies are clear your gaze will stretch from our summer garden as far as Varaždin in Croatia, southern Austria, western Hungary, the Pohorje Mountains and the Pannonian Lowlands.
