Mediadom Pyrhani

About us

Mediadom Pyrhani is a cultural centre and a multimedia museum in Piran, operated by the Association of Cultural Societies Piran. Since 2015 it is the only centre of this kind at the Slovenian coast. It offers a wide variety of cultural activities.

Not so long ago this building, Godbeni dom (Music home), housed the first concerts of generations of students of the Piran Music School – also their children and grandchildren. In this building the members of the Youth Orchestra were practising for concerts on domestic and foreign stages – the pride of Piran.

Also the future connects many paths leading to Piran to meet in the Mediadom Pyrhani, where you are invited to take a ride on our time machine taking you through 20 centuries, from the antique times to today’s Piran. We present the venues of different music and dance festivals, escort you to observe the precious cultural and sacral heritage as well as art pieces, invite you to join the paths of unique landscape parks with salt pans, breathtaking views of green and blue landscape, where Piran awaits you. In the all-purpose hall, suitable not only for lectures, but also for film shows or concerts, there is room for 50 visitors, who are by the help of modern technology capable of experiencing highly educational and cultural contents.

WHAT OFFERS MEDIADOM PYRHANI?

When planning your visit to Piran, you are invited to all the experiences offered by the Mediadom Pyrhani. It is a newly opened cultural centre and a multimedia museum in which the latest technology introduces the history and cultural development of the town.

ICT technology and media make even the distant history interesting. Thorough texts and well designed films-animations enable the visitors to discover the rich history of our charming town, Piran, in a picturesque and relaxed manner. Centuries, in which salt pans and with them the densely populated fishing town, surrounded by a mighty wall, were created, are presented in two animated films with short documentary footages and an interactive 3D film. Visitors get to know the most magnificent characteristics of the town, archaeological discoveries, a pillory and are introduced to the most interesting contents of cultural institutions, traditional and cultural events.

Technologically advanced and modernly equipped Mediadom Pyrhani enables the organisation of a variety of cultural events, from press conferences, lectures to concerts and music productions, theatre activities and film productions.
