Castles
Slovenia is the land of castles. They are magnificent, cute, architectual attractions, they lay in the towns or on the countryside, on lonely places, they are used or desolated – and, in most cases, they are interesting. Usually they stand on the hills as former forts and administrative centers of individual areas. Through history, they have been turning into seats of military staffs, museums, cultural centers; the diversity of their functions were and still are exceptional. Ljubljana Castle, for example, serves as the joint point of gorumet place, night life and cultural engagement nowadays. Predjamski Castle is ceirtanly one of most interesting in Europe; it is positioned about 10 kilometers from Postojna, town with magnificent and regulated system of underground caves. It stands on top of the caves and before the huge natural cavity. Castle and it's former rebel owner Erazem Predjamski are sorrounded by many myths. The story of Celje Castle, home of Counts of Celje, one of the most important noble famillies in the medieval Europe is also eerie and attractive. Three stars, their symbol, are included in the Slovenian coat of arms.
