In the Godec house in Bohinjska Bistrica, which once housed a tannery, there has been a museum since 1979. It is named after its former owner, Tomaž Godec (1905 -1942), a trained tanner, an extraordinary sportsman and the organiser of skiing, mountaineering and tourism events in Bohinj. He was one of the leaders of the so-called Bohinj Uprising and was shot as a hostage in Mauthausen in 1941.

In the museum two permanent exhibitions are displayed – the Tannery museum and the Little War museum of the Soča front, 1915-1917.
